Tengrinews.kz - Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov commented on the upcoming changes to Russia’s entry rules, which some media outlets have already dubbed a “visa regime.”
In the halls of the Mazhilis, journalists asked the head of the interior ministry whether Kazakhstan would take reciprocal measures regarding Russian citizens.
“Measures are being taken. We are studying international practices. National interests must come first,” the minister replied.
He emphasized that when making decisions, the experience of other countries and provisions of national legislation will be taken into account.
“If a foreigner wants to visit Kazakhstan – they are welcome, provided they meet all the legal requirements. First of all, we have created all the conditions for the safe stay of foreigners. There are apps in place, they are already functioning. We will implement similar measures,” the minister concluded.
Earlier, in April, Kazakhstani citizens were warned about new rules for entering Russia. Now, a digital profile will be created for every incoming foreigner, including Kazakhs. It is noted that Kazakhstani citizens can still enter Russia freely, both via flights from countries with regular passenger air service to Russia and through land border checkpoints.
