Tengrinews.kz – A man set himself on fire in the terminal of Almaty Airport; police officers and security staff extinguished the flames, and the victim was hospitalized.
This was reported on Monday, August 25, by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.
“On August 25, 2025, at 10:06 p.m., in Terminal T-1 of Almaty Airport, a man attempted self-immolation near the ticket counter,” the statement said.
It is noted that police officers together with airport security immediately took safety measures: they extinguished the fire and called an ambulance. Doctors transported the man to a city hospital.
The Transport Police Department has opened a criminal case in connection with the incident. Investigative actions are currently underway to establish all the causes and circumstances of what happened.
