Tengrinews.kz - A fire broke out on the night of June 11 in a barracks-type residential house in Almaty. The flames spread to a neighboring building, and during firefighting efforts, rescuers discovered the body of a man.
An official statement was released by the press service of the city’s Department of Emergency Situations (DES). It was reported that the fire occurred on Mezhdunarodnaya Street in the Turksib district.
“A fire occurred in a barracks-type residential building with multiple owners, spreading to a neighboring house with four owners of a similar structure, as well as to a bathhouse and utility building. The total area affected is preliminarily over 500 square meters,” the press release stated.
At the scene, firefighters discovered the body of a man, the agency confirmed.
It was noted that a gas cylinder exploded during the firefighting operation.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations added that due to the dense layout of the buildings, the fire quickly spread to adjacent structures. Firefighters deployed a command center and operated under an elevated response level.
Later, the DES reported that the fire was localized. The press service also noted that searches for potential victims are ongoing. The fire was fully extinguished during the night over an area of 586 square meters, the agency added.
Earlier, a major fire erupted in a residential complex in Astana, prompting residents to evacuate on their own.
