Tengrinews.kz - Lufthansa has announced a temporary suspension of flights to Kazakhstan from January 12 to February 13, 2025.
We are talking about flights from Frankfurt to Almaty, Astana, and back. In response to our request, a representative of the air carrier explained that the decision was due to the economic inexpediency of maintaining these destinations during this period.
"Lufthansa is intensively evaluating and optimizing its entire route network, especially given the seasonality and serious capacity shortages caused by delays in aircraft deliveries by manufacturers," the airline's press service noted.
Which flights will be canceled?
The changes will affect flights from Frankfurt to Almaty and Astana:
- LH646 (Frankfurt – Almaty – Astana – Frankfurt) – from January 11 to February 17, 2025.
- LH648 (Frankfurt – Astana – Almaty – Frankfurt) – from January 9 to February 16, 2025.
- LH650/651 (Frankfurt – Almaty – Frankfurt) – from January 3 to February 14, 2025.
According to Lufthansa, the current situation has forced the company to take action.
"It is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve a balanced result during the year. In addition to short-term measures to maintain revenue, the airline has launched a comprehensive program aimed at increasing efficiency, reducing complexity, and improving quality," the airline emphasized.
The airline assured that all customers whose flights were canceled have already been notified in advance and have been given the opportunity to rebook their tickets for other dates or destinations free of charge.
When will flights resume?
Lufthansa plans to resume regular flights to Kazakhstan from 14 February 2025. Company representatives emphasized their commitment to the Kazakhstan market, noting that the airline has been flying to the country since 1992 and is proud of its long-term cooperation with Kazakhstani passengers and partners.
