Tengrinews.kz - Photos have surfaced online showing graffiti on Light Rail Transit (LRT) carriages parked at Nazarbayev Airport Station in Astana. City Transportation System (CTS) confirmed the incident.
CTS stated that “unauthorized graffiti had been sprayed on the exterior of the carriages.”
"The information has been handed over to law enforcement. A criminal case has been opened," CTS said.
The company also noted that the carriages are coated with a special protective layer that prevents paint from penetrating the base.
Cleanup work to remove the graffiti is already underway.
This incident comes shortly after Astana received its first LRT trains, which were recently placed on the tracks. Akim (governor) Zhenis Kassymbek previously announced the arrival of the first light rail units in the capital.
