Kazakhstan plans to simplify deportation rules for foreigners

Aslan Atalykov, head of the Migration Police Committee, announced that a new package of amendments aimed at strengthening migration control is currently under discussion.
"We are considering the return of the registration system for foreigners, which will apply not to tourists staying for up to 30 days, but to those intending to stay in Kazakhstan for more than 30 days. The registration process will be streamlined using information technology, reducing unnecessary bureaucracy. Amendments to tighten penalties for fictitious registrations are also being prepared," Atalykov said at a briefing.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs believes these measures will create effective tools for enhancing migration control.
"Additionally, we plan to review the current process for deporting foreigners, which is quite complicated. We aim to introduce a new deportation system that will allow for the quicker expulsion of clear and egregious violators of migration laws who acknowledge their violations," the committee head explained.
He reminded that in May, a package of amendments was passed, modifying seven codes and 13 laws. One of these is the law on the legal status of foreigners, which includes provisions banning entry into Kazakhstan and denying permits to those who have previously committed sexual offenses against children. Entry will also be prohibited for foreigners involved in extremist or terrorist activities.
Foreigners will be denied entry and residence permits without explanation based on these grounds. Any permits previously issued will be revoked if subsequent crimes are committed.
