Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan is positioning itself as a leading regional logistics hub linking Europe and Asia through major investments in transport infrastructure and digital solutions, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the 38th plenary session of the Foreign Investors' Council, according to Akorda.

Tokayev described the transport and logistics sector as one of the key pillars of Kazakhstan's long-term development strategy.

The President noted that 13 major international transport corridors pass through Kazakhstan, making the country a vital link in transcontinental supply chains.

"Around 85 percent of all rail freight traffic between China and Europe passes through Kazakhstan, confirming our key role in global trade and transport connectivity. To further strengthen these positions, we are making large-scale investments in transport infrastructure, including the construction of thousands of kilometers of new railways and the continued development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, widely known as the Middle Corridor," Tokayev said.

According to the President, Kazakhstan has invested more than $35 billion in transport and logistics infrastructure over the past 15 years.

"At the same time, we understand that modern logistics requires not only high-quality infrastructure but also advanced digital solutions. That is why we are taking steps to digitalize the entire ecosystem," he added.

Tokayev said Kazakhstan has been rolling out the Smart Cargo digital platform since late last year. Operating as a one-stop shop, the platform integrates customs, logistics, and commercial services into a single digital environment.

"The platform brings together all key procedures in one digital ecosystem, significantly reducing administrative barriers and transit times. At the initial stage, transit operations on the China–Uzbekistan route have already been fully digitalized, while border-crossing procedures have been moved online, making international freight transport faster, more transparent, and more predictable. As a result, transit through Kazakhstan has become more efficient, cost-effective, and reliable for international businesses operating across Eurasia," the President said.
