Tengrinews.kz - A critical care specialist from Kazakhstan’s Scientific Center for Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery saved a young woman’s life during a flight, according to the Ministry of Healthcare.
The incident occurred on a FlyArystan flight from Shymkent to Astana.
A 20-year-old student lost consciousness, prompting the cabin crew to immediately call for medical assistance from any doctors on board.
"A highly qualified resuscitation specialist, Nursultan Auelbekovich Kurbanbekov, head of the neonatal anesthesiology, resuscitation, and intensive care department at the Scientific Center for Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, responded to the call, along with a neurosurgeon and a cardiologist," the statement said.
Upon examination, Kurbanbekov found that the woman had a thread-like pulse and undetectable blood pressure, indicating a critical condition. Thanks to his swift and coordinated actions, supported by other medical professionals, her condition improved significantly within minutes.
"Her medical history revealed a dangerously low hemoglobin level of just 61, and she admitted to not receiving any treatment, which may have contributed to her loss of consciousness," the ministry explained.
Doctors advised the young woman to seek medical consultation for further examination and to rule out any underlying conditions that could lead to similar incidents.
Previously, a doctor from Pavlodar saved a woman's life on board a plane after falling ill.
