Tengrinews.kz - A 71-year-old German citizen was detained at the Turkestan airport, according to the Police Department on transport.

Police reported that during registration for the Turkestan-Istanbul flight, the 71-year-old German citizen was detained for violating Kazakhstan's citizenship laws. It was discovered that she held dual citizenship—of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federal Republic of Germany.

"Transport police filed an administrative report against the offender for failing to report her acquisition of foreign citizenship within the legally required period. The Specialized Administrative Court of the Turkestan region found her guilty and fined her 140 MCI (monthly calculation index), amounting to 516,880 tenge," the statement said.

The report notes that from October 14 to 18, Kazakhstan conducted the "Migrant" operation, during which 143 individuals were held accountable for violations of migration laws. As a result, 19 foreign citizens have been deported from Kazakhstan by court order.

Previously, the Border Service of the National Security Committee reported the detention of seven Kazakh citizens at border checkpoints who had obtained foreign citizenship. The detainees were handed over to the police for further investigation.

Earlier, police identified 48 individuals with dual citizenship in the East Kazakhstan region.
