Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet forecasters have issued a weather forecast for Kazakhstan for May 15, 16, and 17.
Heat up to 44°C
At the beginning of the period, the influx of warm air masses from Iran will maintain hot and mostly dry weather across much of Kazakhstan. Daytime temperatures will reach extreme highs: up to 35–44°C in the southern regions, 35–37°C in the northern, central, and eastern areas. In the southern parts of the Abai and Ulytau regions, as well as in the Karaganda region, intense heat of around 40°C is expected.
Rain will follow the heat
However, on May 16, atmospheric frontal systems will begin to affect the western, northwestern, and northern regions, bringing rain, thunderstorms, and hail. Heavy rain is also forecasted in the Mangystau region.
"On May 17, most of Kazakhstan will experience rain, thunderstorms, and hail, with some regions seeing heavy rainfall accompanied by squally winds. This will cause temperatures in the northern half of the country to drop to 18–28°C during the day, although intense heat of up to 43°C will still persist in the south," forecasters said.
Strong winds are expected across the country, with dust storms likely in southern regions.
