Tengrinews.kz - Special Public Service Centers (Special PSCs) in Kazakhstan have begun using facial recognition technology to automatically verify the identity of visitors.
According to "Government for Citizens," the system now takes a photograph of the applicant's face and compares it with the image stored in the national database of individuals. Previously, identity verification was done manually by PSC staff who checked documents in person.
The new process is intended to prevent the use of fake or third-party images, including photos displayed on phone screens.
If the system fails to confirm a person’s identity using biometrics, the service request is automatically blocked.
Authorities remind citizens that government services can also be accessed via the eGov.kz portal, the “PSC” mobile app (“Government for Citizens”), and second-tier bank applications.
Previously, a new feature allowing users to apply for the recognition of foreign higher and postgraduate education diplomas was added to the eGov Mobile app.
