Tengrinews.kz – Senator and former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Marat Kozhayev was asked why Kazakhstan has not been able to fully block the scandalous website Kyzdar.net.
According to Kozhayev, modern web platforms can easily bypass restrictions simply by changing domain names.
"My personal experience in law enforcement (Kozhayev is a lieutenant general of police and former deputy minister of internal affairs – ed.) shows that we try to combat these issues. But what makes modern internet resources unique? Just a small change in the IP address... For example, you can just remove a dot from 'Kyzdar.net' and it becomes a new, unblocked site. There are many ways to bypass our blocks. And if we start blocking everything completely, you’ll be the first to shout: 'Censorship!'" said Kozhayev.
Earlier, Minister of Internal Affairs Erzhan Sadenov stated that Kyzdar.net had been blocked in Kazakhstan. Its organizers have been sentenced, and court proceedings are still ongoing for some of them.
