Tengrinews.kz - Police uncovered a criminal scheme to legalize foreigners at one of Astana’s educational institutions. Two university employees had issued fake invitations for study to more than 68 citizens from distant foreign countries, citing Polisia.kz.
To implement the scheme, the suspects signed a formal contract with an entrepreneur to recruit foreign students and simulated an educational process. Based on these documents, the foreigners entered Kazakhstan and illegally worked at enterprises in Almaty.
Police also detained a woman from a neighboring country who organized a channel for legalizing foreigners through specialized public service centers. According to preliminary data, she had illegally arranged dozens of temporary residence permits for citizens from nearby countries using forged documents. During a search, officers found blank medical certificates, stamps, and electronic data carriers.
Pretrial investigations have been launched on charges of organizing illegal migration.
“Since the beginning of the year, eight channels of illegal migration have been identified and shut down, with organizers forging documents for legalization and crossing the state border. Combating illegal migration is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. We urge foreign guests not to use illegal migration services and remind them of the responsibility they bear,” said Kanat Nurmagambetov, head of the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
