Tengrinews.kz – A "digital dome" is being launched in Astana: several high-rise buildings have been equipped with ultra-powerful cameras with a viewing radius of up to 10 kilometers. This was reported by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Department of Informatization and Communications, Sergey Vargo.
According to Vargo, more than 1.5 million cameras across the country monitor key infrastructure sites: train stations, airports, shopping and entertainment centers, markets, schools, mosques, as well as residential building entrances, elevators, and public transport cabins.
“We’re going further – creating a ‘digital dome’ in Astana. Five ultra-powerful video cameras have been installed on high-rise buildings: two in the Abu Dhabi Plaza complex, and one each on the buildings of ‘Kazteleradio,’ the ‘Prestige’ residential complex, and the ‘Tomiris’ residential complex. These cameras provide high-quality imaging and allow monitoring of objects and events within a 10-kilometer radius,” the officer reported.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, video surveillance systems have helped solve 6% of crimes and more than half of administrative offenses.
The ministry emphasized that the development of digital technologies and the integration of video systems is ongoing, and the "digital dome" project may be scaled to other regions of the country.
