Tengrinews.kz - Migration service officers have helped restore the citizenship of a 61-year-old Almaty resident who lived without identification documents for two decades, citing Polisia.kz.
According to the authorities, the woman lost her 1974 Soviet passport, which left her without legal identification for 20 years.
“The loss of the passport left her in a dire situation: she couldn’t apply for pension benefits or secure permanent housing,” the statement said.
After gathering the necessary supporting documents, the woman was officially recognized as a citizen of Kazakhstan and issued a national ID card.
“Behind every case is a human story. Our mission is to restore people’s legal rights and provide state protection. The woman is now receiving assistance with all necessary paperwork and the restoration of her social benefits,” said Erkin Amantaev, head of the migration service department in Almaty.
