"Astana Airport is conducting scheduled maintenance of light and signal equipment from August 19 to 25, 2015. In particular, lights on the landing strip will be maintained. In this regard, the airport will not be receiving or releasing any flights from 10:00 p.m. till 03:00 a.m.," its Marketing and PR Department said.
All the airlines making flights to Astana have been informed about the maintenance schedule.
"Airline companies treated the scheduled maintenance works with understanding. The maintenance works will not cause any inconvenience and will not affect the flights. Airlines have included the changes into their flight schedules. A new flight schedule is available on the Astana Airtport website," the department said.
The Astana Airport has received around $319 million for reconstruction. The reconstruction works are primarily aimed at increasing the passenger capacity of the airport, including by upgrading its runway and taxi ways.
Currently the passenger capacity of the airport amounts to 3 million people a year. In the future it is planned to increase the capacity to 7 million people per year.
It is planned to complete the reconstruction of Astana Airport by the end of 2016 and commission it by 2017.
