Tengrinews.kz - Researchers from the Health Science Center at Xi'an Jiaotong University have discovered that consuming instant coffee might influence the length of telomeres - key sections of DNA that serve as biomarkers of aging. The findings were published on the PubMed portal, according to Gazeta.ru.

The study analyzed dietary habits and telomere lengths of over 468,000 individuals. The researchers employed both observational methods and randomization to identify causal relationships.

According to the findings, each additional cup of coffee was associated with a reduction in telomere length, equivalent to approximately 0.12 years of biological age.

Instant coffee received particular attention in the study. Statistical analysis revealed that each cup of instant coffee reduced telomere length in a manner comparable to the natural aging process of roughly 0.38 years.

Scientists clarified that the results do not directly imply that coffee shortens life expectancy. However, they hypothesize that regular consumption of instant coffee might accelerate biological aging processes.

Previously, Japanese researchers discovered plant seeds that could reverse dementia.
