Tengrinews.kz - An international team of scientists has found that there are two key ages when the human body undergoes abrupt molecular changes. These periods are marked by significant shifts in the composition of proteins, lipids, RNA, and the microbiome. The study was published in Nature Aging, citing Gazeta.Ru.
The research revealed that the first major change occurs around the age of 44, while the second happens at 60. The findings are based on data from 108 volunteers who were observed over several years.
At 44, significant changes occur in lipid metabolism, as well as in the processing of caffeine and alcohol. Additionally, the risk of cardiovascular diseases, skin issues, and muscle dysfunction increases. At 60, transformations impact carbohydrate metabolism, the immune system, and kidney function, while also further elevating the risk of heart conditions.
According to the study’s authors, these changes occur in both men and women, ruling out menopause as the sole factor.
Scientists believe that this discovery could have a major impact on research into aging-related disease prevention and longevity strategies. However, they note that their sample size is still relatively small, and further research is needed to better understand these aging surges.
