First Kazakhstan patient with artificial heart discharged

National Scientific Cardiology Center in Astana discharged its first patient with implanted autonomous heart ventricle device, an artificial heart, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of National Medical Holding. Mobile auxiliary blood circulation device was implanted into the heart area of 42-year-old Marat Shymbalov. After a severe flu the man got cardiomyopathy, damage of the heart muscle. Productivity ot his left ventricle decreased to 20 percent. According to statistics, 20 medical facilities aimed at 486 patients are rendering cardiological help to Kazakhstan residents. There were 4.5 times fewer of these kind of medical facilities in 2006. Over 10 thousand cardiac surgeries were made in 2010, around one third of them were open heart surgeries. They ensured a 25-percent decrease in mortality from blood-circulation diseases in the last 5 years.
