Tengrinews.kz - A study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine highlights that the simple habit of walking daily can significantly improve health and extend life expectancy, according to SciTechDaily.

The research found that if individuals over 40 were as active as the top 25 percent of the population, their lifespan could increase by up to five years.

However, the most dramatic benefits occur when the least active individuals achieve similar levels of activity. In such cases, their lifespan could extend by nearly 11 years.

The analysis showed that walking 160 minutes a day (approximately 2.5 hours) at an average speed of 4.8 kilometers per hour could increase average life expectancy by five years.

Researchers emphasized that the greatest benefits are seen among sedentary individuals, with each additional hour of walking potentially adding six hours to their lifespan.

Earlier, scientists discovered that instant coffee may reduce lifespan.
