Tengrinews.kz - In an interview with "Vechernyaya Moskva", a Russian local newspaper, dietician Elena Solomatina identified certain foods that could shorten life expectancy and contribute to serious health issues.

Dietician Elena Solomatina highlighted sweets, baked goods, and beer as especially harmful.

"Sweets, jams, pastries, and beer all have a high glycemic index, causing blood sugar levels to spike. This rapid energy surge overwhelms the body, which then releases large amounts of insulin to process it. The excess energy ultimately gets stored as fat," Solomatina explained.

The doctor continued that when fat storage becomes excessive, it can lead to atherosclerosis.

"Blood vessel walls are damaged, leading to inflammation. Cholesterol then attempts to repair these areas, forming plaques that disrupt blood flow, which in turn affects organ health and function. This can result in memory decline and reduced physical and emotional stamina due to undernourished neurons, a process similar to what happens in old age," she added.

Solomatina also warned against trans fats and fried foods such as fast food, fries, red meat, and margarine.

"Trans fats are 'mutant' cells that cannot perform necessary bodily functions, accelerating cellular aging. Cells function less effectively, resembling aged cells," Solomatina noted.

Fried foods contain advanced glycation end products (AGEs), which accumulate in the body and impact collagen production, affecting appearance.

"When consumed, fried foods introduce AGEs that attach to proteins in the body, stiffening tissues and reducing collagen production, leading to wrinkles," she told the publication.
