Sberbank is mulling to become one of the key banks in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing chairman of Sberbank German Gref as saying at the meeting with Nursultan Nazarbayev. “We are planning to become one of the key banks in Kazakhstan in the nearest 5 years. I would like to thank you for supporting equal competition conditions for all the participants of the market,” the banker told Nursultan Nazarbayev. The meeting was held at the sidelines of the Council of Foreign Investors. The bilateral exchange of opinions was, perhaps, required after German Gref asked Kazakhstan administration for preferences for Sberbank in front of other foreign investors. According to Nazarbayev’s press-service, Sberbank has been successfully working at Kazakhstan’s financial market for over 5 years. Its investments to Kazakhstan economy made around 400 billion tenge ($2.7 million) in 2011 and over 888 billion tenge ($6 million) since 2008. By Renat Tashkinbayev
