Employees of the coal department of ArcelorMittal Temirtau have got a 10-percent pay raise (including adjustment to the inflation in the amount of 7.4 percent), Tengrinews.kz reports citing the company's press-service. The agreement with Korgau trade union was signed on June 19, 2012. "Prior to making the compromise decision we held extended trade union meetings at all the companies of the coal department. We have also collected the miners' signatures on the letter of intent of strike. We have unable to collect the 50 percent of votes required by law, however," chairman of Korgau trade union of coal department employees Marat Mirgoyazov said. It has been agreed to continue the negotiations on further pay rise to miners in October if commodities markets stabilize. "We are glad that we have found understanding among the coal department's employees and welcome the decision of Korgau trade union. The miners trade union acted exclusively in the best interests of the employees. We continue negotiating with Zhaktau trade union of the steel department, meet with metallurgists in the shops and divisions of the company," personnel director of ArcelorMittal Temirtau in Kazakhstan Dmitriy Pavlov said. The administration has not yet received the official notification from Zhaktau trade union on holding the strike (by Kazakhstan law it has to be submitted 5 days prior to the strike). The negotiations on the pay raise to miners and metallurgists have been ongoing since November 2011. The trade unions requested 30-percent raise over annual adjustment to inflation. On May 19, 2012, ArcelorMittal Temirtau employees organized a rally.
