Tengrinews.kz – A camera trap in the Kolsai Lakes National Park captured footage of a snow leopard regularly patrolling the same area of the reserve for four months.
As is known, the snow leopard (Panthera uncia) is listed in Kazakhstan’s Red Book of endangered species.
The footage shows that the animal didn’t just come to “pose” – the predator clearly claimed this area. According to observations, it monitored this territory for approximately four months.

National park staff emphasized that such footage is a real treasure. It helps better understand the snow leopard’s behavior in the wild, where it frequents, and which routes it prefers.
Additionally, it was recently reported that vacationers recorded a Tien Shan brown bear on camera as it moved toward the Middle Kolsai Lake within the national park. This rare wild animal is also listed in Kazakhstan’s Red Book. Tien Shan brown bears inhabit forested mountain slopes.
