Three students from Kazakhstan - Ablai Orazkhanov, Balausa Kamaledenova, Daniyar Imankulov - have been admitted into the leading military universities of the U.S. Armed Forces. U.S. a.i. Chargé d'Affaires in Kazakhstan John Ordway personally handed the enrolment certificates to them in June, Tengrinews reports citing the press-service of the Kazakhstan Defence Ministry.

The American diplomat expressed confidence that the students would be able to successfully apply "the knowledge they get from the American military academies in their service in the Kazakhstan army".

Selection of candidates for enrolment into the U.S. universities started in October 2013. After filing their documents and passing a medical check-up with the military authorities, the candidates had to take a special test and have an interview with U.S. Embassy officers, and also pass TOEFL and SAT tests.

The program covers education in prestigious military institutions, all three most prestigious academies are part of the program - U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy. But the number of foreign students admitted to these universities is very limited, so there are only three students from Kazakhstan this year.

The Class of 2018 will start in summer 2014. Kazakhstan students will study for 4 years. Their education will be paid for from the U.S. budget. Whereas Kazakhstan undertook to pay for their vacation periods. The education opportunity is part of Kazakh-American five-year military cooperation project.

Upon their return to Kazakhstan, the students will have to serve in the Kazakhstan Armed Forces for at least 10 years. The young people will sign binding contracts with the Kazakhstan army before leaving to America for their studies.
