Tengrinews.kz — The Astana Police Department has released footage of the arrest of Olympic boxing champion Daniyar Yeleussinov. The athlete was arrested today for drunk driving following a traffic accident.
According to the Astana Police Department's press service, several vehicles were damaged in the collision. Preliminary reports indicate that Yeleussinov, driving a Toyota Land Cruiser, collided with other cars and fled the scene. However, he did not get far and was soon apprehended.
Shortly after, a photo of the vehicle allegedly belonging to Yeleussinov surfaced on social media. The image shows a dark Toyota Land Cruiser 250 Prado with significant damage to the front left side. The bumper is completely shattered, the fender and hood are heavily deformed, the headlight assembly is damaged, and plastic wheel arch trim is torn and hanging over the tire.
Today, an administrative court in Astana sentenced Yeleussinov to 20 days in jail and the and revoked his driver's license for 7 years.

Daniyar Yeleussinov is a Honored Master of Sports of Kazakhstan, 2016 Olympic champion, 2013 World champion, two-time Asian Games winner (2010, 2014), and two-time Asian champion (2013, 2015). In professional boxing, he held the IBO world welterweight title (2021–2024) and the IBF Inter-Continental title (2020–2022).
