Tengrinews.kz — Ticket sales for American rapper Kanye West’s (Ye) concert in Almaty have been postponed by one day following a protest from Kairat Football Club. However, the date of the performance itself remains unchanged — August 14. This was stated in a statement by the show’s co-organizers, citing RIA Novosti.
Ye’s concert at Almaty’s Central Stadium was announced on Friday, July 17. A limited presale of tickets was expected to start on July 20 and run until July 21.
On the same day, Kairat Football Club said the American rapper must coordinate his performance at the stadium with the club, as home matches are scheduled for August 8 and 15. Kairat also did not rule out matches being held from August 11 to 13.
“In light of the situation with Kairat Football Club... the start of ticket sales for Ye’s concert has been postponed to July 21 at 12:00 p.m. ... The date and venue of the concert remain unchanged: the event will take place on August 14 at the Central Stadium in Almaty,” the statement said.
“Kairat is a team we wholeheartedly support and admire. Therefore, we are currently engaged in constructive dialogue to find the most suitable solution,” the concert organizers noted.
Ye is the stage and legal name of American rapper Kanye West. The musician began using the word as a pseudonym and officially changed his first and last name in documents in 2021. This will be the singer’s first major live concert in Almaty.
