The Regional Organized Crime Control Department received operational information about a 51-year-old suspect who offered a resident of Almaty 10 million tenge for the physical elimination of an elderly woman. The motive for the crime is linked to a real estate transaction made in 2011.

"The contractor has been arrested and is in custody. A criminal case has been initiated for the contract killing, and an investigation is underway. Further details cannot be disclosed in the interest of the investigation," stated Baurzhan Alenov, head of the Almaty Region Police Department.

According to media reports, the arrested suspect is a citizen of India.
