A fight involving a couple of dozens of participants has taken place in Astana. Although there was a gunshot and screams of pain, no one is reported wounded and the participants have not claims against each other. They were all having a good time when a cross-talk when sour, Tengrinews reports citing them as saying. A witness sent a video of the incident to Tengrinews editorial office. According to the witness, the fight happened at night on February 25. It stars with several men sorting things out, during the process one of them is lying on the ground, then several more people approach them. A large group of men arrives in a bus, as if specifically for the fight. Then there is a scuffle with some of the participants using rebars as weapons. One gunshot is clearly audible on the video. Police arrives several minutes later. They are aware that the fight involves a large number of participants, because it is a large group of officers, not just a patrol. However a large number of the participants of the fight managed to flee. "I live on the opposite side of the street from the night club, where the fight took place that night. First, two cars and a bus pulled over. Some guys came out out the vehicles and started beating a man. Then I heard a gunshot and screams of pain. After that the police arrived and most of the participants of the fight started running away, some of them were arrested," the witness said. The press-secretary of the Interior Department of Astana said that 9 people were arrested. They all work in the same company. "They were spending time in that club and were pretty drunk. A cross-talk started and then the talking grew into the fight. According the head of the press-service of the Astana Interior Department Sofiya Kylyshbekova, the man that was laying on the ground was very drunk, but not hurt. No one was killed or injured in the fight and none of the participants required any medical aid. The police denies that any guns were used in that fight. So it remains a mystery who made the gun shot audible in the video and who was screaming in pain. Commenting the fast and massive arrival of the police officers to the indecent site, she said that the fight was caught by one of the street surveillance cameras and several police patrols were dispatched immediately. All the 9 arrested participants of fight were brought to the police department. None of them have many any claims against each other and no one is planning to file lawsuits in relation to the fight. They all testify that none of them had or used any weapons. "All 9 men are now under recognisance not to leave Kazakhstan. The police is investigating the case and questioning the participants and witnesses to determine the extent of involvement of each of the men. A criminal case on violence charges has been initiated against them under the article 257 part 2 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan," the press-service said. According to the Kazakhstan legislation Violence committed by one person is punishable with a fine ranging from $2000 to $5000, or 120-180 hours of community services, or 6-12 months of corrective labor, or up to 2 years or custodial restraint, or up to 2 years in prison depending on the extent of the violence. However, the punishment for the same violence committed by a group of people lacks the softer options: it is punished with a custodial restraint or prison term of 3 to 7 years.
