Soundtracks from Harry Potter and Star Wars will be played at the Orchestra Parade in August in Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the event’s organizer, Eventica Conferences. The Orchestra Parade will be held on August 23-25 on Abai Square (at the crossing of Dostyk and Abai streets). It will be traditionally opened by Otyrar Sazy Academic Folk-Ethnographic Orchestra. Besides, classical compositions the first day of the event will include Shakherezada ballet performed by an open air ballet troupe of Gediminas Taranda. The second day will include compositions from popular movies performed by the Symphonic Orchestra of Abai State Academic Theater and Ballet Theater. “Imagine the sound Imperial March from the Star Wars played by an orchestra. The program is so diverse that it doesn’t even fall in one concept. So we dedicated a whole day of the event to soundtracks from movies. It must have been a very pleasant surprise for the musicians when they found out that they will be playing music from Harry Potter and Pink Panther instead of the usual Mozart and Strauss,” Director of Eventica company Marat Omarov wrote in his blog. The final day will also be dedicated to soundtracks, but those from famous cartoons. The state wind band led by Kanat Akhmetov and Aleksander Belyakov will perform compositions from Aladdin, Lion King and other cartoons. “I would be very happy to see thousands of children on Abai square on August 25 listening to music from their favorite cartoons,” Omarov said. Last year’s Orchestra Parade was also held on Abai square (in front of the Republic Palace at the crossing of Dostyk and Abai streets). The ticket cost 1,000 tenge ($7) last year.
