A joint work of Timur Bekmambetov and Tim Burton has been selected the opening film of Astana Action Film Festival, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Svetlana Fissen, International Action Film Festival director. Being the opening film has an advantage to it: the audience that attend the opening ceremony could see its well before its official release in Kazakhstan. "It is a great honor for us and for Astana city to open the Festival with this movie directed by Bekmambetov,” Svetlana Fissen said to a press-conference before the festival. According to Fissen, besides Bekmambetov’s movie, L’Assaut, directed by French Julien Leclercq will be demonstrated during the Festival. The Amazing Spider-Man, directed by American Marc Webb will be screened at the closing ceremony. Prominent cinematographers are scheduled to give seven master-classes as part of the Festival: American director and script-writer Kevin Reynolds who directed the legendary Robin Hood and The Count of Mote Cristo, British script-writer and director John Kelly and others. Actor Dominic Cooper who starred in Bekmambetov’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, prominent producers and script-writers: Jim Lemley, Kang Je-guy, Mike Simpson, Danny Wolf, and famous Russian actors: Aleksey Petrenko, Galina Konshina, Artyom Tkachenko and Z.Dance team (consisting of Alan Badoyev, Max Barskikh and Krisitina Mezhinskaya) are the honored guests of the Festival. Lyazzat Kokkozova, Film Festival media director, says that there are lots of talented young people among ART FEST Youth Contest participants that have no cinema education background. Super hero films scheduled for the festival screenings are: Mr. and Mrs. Incredible (China), The Zero Hour (Venezuela), Ra. One (India). World Action movies are: Life Without Principle, (China), Soldiers of Fortune (United States), My Way (South Korea). Action documentaries: Super Heroes (USA), With Great Power: Stan Lee Story (USA). Kevin Reynolds retrospective show: Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (USA), and Tristan and Isolde (USA).
