Almaty has an excellent opportunity to enjoy the mastery of the Russian ballet school: Imperial Russian Ballet Company led by Gediminas Taranda will perform in Almaty on April 4-5, Tengrinews reports.


Almaty has an excellent opportunity to enjoy the mastery of the Russian ballet school: Imperial Russian Ballet Company led by Gediminas Taranda will perform in Almaty on April 4-5, Tengrinews reports.

The troupe will perform Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece Swan Lake on April 4 - they have staged the ballet in more than 20 countries around the world.

And on April 5 the famous troupe will perform two one-act plays combined together: Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and Maurice Ravel’s Bolero. It is going to be an unforgettable show with sensual rhythms of Spanish music, spectacular decorations and costumes, highly professional soloists and corps de ballet.

Imperial Russian Ballet company was founded in April 1994 by the soloist of Russian Bolshoi Theatre Gedeminas Taranda and soloist of Igor Moiseyev' Folk Dance company Nikolai Anokhine on an initiative of a famous Russian ballerina Maya Plisetskaya.

It was named in honor of the grand masters of the Russian Classical Ballet School and the Imperial Family, who significantly contributed to development of culture in Russia.

The company now includes 42 dancers from leading Russian and foreign ballet schools, including several ballet dancers from Kazakhstan. Nariman Bekzhanov, who used to dance in Abay State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet in Almaty, in one of them. He moved to Moscow, Russia in 2005.

This will be the first time the entire troupe will perform in Kazakhstan.

The ballet will start at 7 p.m. in the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Abay, located on Kabanbay Street #110, between Furmanov Street and Abylaikhan Avenue.

Ticket prices start from 3,000 tenge ($16.2). They can be purchased online at ticketon.kz.
