Tengrinews.kz – A Singapore Airlines aircraft struck the tail section of a Spirit Airlines airliner while taxiing. The incident occurred in the United States, according to AsiaOne.
What happened
According to the outlet, the collision took place at Newark Liberty Airport. At the time of the incident, one aircraft had already started taxiing toward the runway. Meanwhile, the Spirit Airlines plane was at the gate undergoing de-icing before departure. Then the Singapore Airlines aircraft clipped its tail section.
Videos from the scene appeared on social media. One of the passengers of the Singapore carrier said he did not feel the impact himself.
"This happened within the hour on @SingaporeAir flight SQ21, EWR to SIN, world’s longest flight at 19 hours, 10 min. During the first minute as we pulled out, our plan’s wingtip hit a @SpiritAirlines tail. Don’t know whose fault it is, but you can see the damage in this video," he shared.
