For over 100 years, the bow of the Titanic remained as recognizable as it was before it's sank in the Atlantic. However, new shocking video footage shows that the legendary front of the ship has now collapsed onto the ocean floor.

@metrouk New footage taken by robots is showing just how badly the Titanic is now falling apart. A large section of railing from the bow has fallen onto the seafloor. The video and photographs, taken with underwater robots, demonstrate how quickly the Titanic is deteriorating at a depth of 3,800 meters underwater. The expedition team that discovered this warns that the ship could completely disintegrate at any time.

"People keep asking, "How long will the Titanic remain in place?" We simply don’t know, but we are monitoring it in real-time," said Tomasina Ray, director of collections at RMS Titanic Inc, the company that organized the expedition.

During the expedition conducted in July and August of this year, two remotely operated vehicles launched by RMS Titanic Inc discovered that a 4.5-meter section of the bow railing was missing. Later, 3D scan of the area revealed that this part of the railing had fallen as a whole piece onto the ocean floor.

The metal structure of the Titanic is deteriorating due to microorganisms that create large stalactites of rust. RMS Titanic Inc noted that new areas of damage might provide access to the ship's interior for research. During the expedition, two underwater robots collected over two million photographs and 24 hours of HD video. The company is analyzing this data and hopes to create a detailed 3D image of the Titanic.

This summer, the expedition discovered an artifact that had long been considered lost. In 1985, when the first information about the wreck was published, photographs showed a bronze statue of Diana of Versailles among the debris. However, due to secrecy, the exact location of the statue was not recorded. Now, after many years, the 60-centimeter figure that once adorned the first-class fireplace has been found again.
