Tengrinews.kz – On the night of September 7 to 8, Kazakhstanis witnessed a total lunar eclipse, during which Earth's satellite took on a reddish-copper hue.
Photojournalists from our editorial team captured this rare astronomical phenomenon.

Lunar eclipses can be observed with the naked eye. They are safe and accessible to everyone.

Earlier, it was reported that this would be a rather "deep" eclipse: the Moon would pass through the center of Earth's shadow, giving it a dark red or even brownish-orange tint.

It was explained that the totality phase, when the Moon is completely immersed in Earth's shadow, would last 82 minutes — from 10:30 PM to 11:52 PM Astana time (with the maximum eclipse occurring at 11:11 PM).

Residents of Eastern Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and parts of the Middle East also had the opportunity to observe nearly all phases of the eclipse.
The only region that completely missed the event was the United States.
