Tengrinews.kz - The death toll from floods and landslides in Nepal has risen to 148, according to The Kathmandu Post.

The publication reports that 59 more people are still missing.

The disaster caused damage across several provinces, with the worst destruction occurring in the Kathmandu Valley.

According to Deputy Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, Kumar Neupane, 73 people died in the Kathmandu Valley alone, while 17 deaths were recorded in Koshi Province and 56 in Bagmati Province. Heavy rains injured 60 people, and more than 3,661 people were rescued by Nepalese police and Armed Police Force.

Floods have also caused significant damage to local infrastructure. Over 322 homes were destroyed, and 16 bridges were damaged, cutting off key transportation routes. In the Dhadhing district alone, 35 bodies were recovered after landslides buried four passenger buses.

Rescue operations, including helicopter evacuations, are ongoing as authorities seek to locate the missing and provide aid to those affected by the disaster. However, major road blockages and continuing rains are complicating efforts for the teams on the ground.

Earlier, Typhoon Yagi, which struck Vietnam, continues to wreak havoc even days after making landfall. Approximately 200 people have died.
