Tengrinews.kz — After the theft that occurred in October, the Louvre is introducing additional security measures.

The museum announced this the day before on the social network X and published a corresponding video.

“The Louvre has taken into account all the lessons from the theft that took place on October 19 and is continuing its transformation, as well as strengthening its security architecture,” the post says.

It is explained that protective barriers have been installed around the museum along the Francois Mitterrand waterfront, and a mobile police post is on duty nearby. In addition, special grilles have been installed on the windows of the Apollo Gallery through which the thieves broke in.

“Starting next year, as part of the first stage of the master plan for the installation of security equipment, signed and approved last week, 100 additional CCTV cameras will be installed,” the museum added.

Recall that in October, the world-famous Louvre Museum in Paris was robbed “in a matter of minutes.” According to prosecutors, the crime was carried out in just four minutes by a group of four people, two of whom directly entered the museum.

Nine items of jewelry belonging to French queens and empresses were stolen; one of them was found and returned to the museum. Two suspects in the robbery were arrested a week later. Other suspects believed to be involved in the crime were detained later. The damage from the robbery at the Louvre is estimated at 88 million euros.
