Dolphin entangled in fishing line asks diver for help

Dolphin entangled in fishing line asks diver for help

A video capturing a dolphin entangled in a fishing line who approaches a group of divers for help has once again proved the animal’s high intelligence.

It was January 11, 2013 when a group of divers headed by Keller Laros was watching the manta rays off the coast of Hawaii’s Big Island. Suddenly, a dolphin hooked in a fishing line swam over straight to Mr. Laros as if it was saying ‘help me’.

The diver noticed that the dolphin had a fishing hook in one of its fins and began removing it.

It is amazing how the mammal patiently waited for his ‘rescuer’ to cut him loose from the fishing line with scissors. It seemed to be aware of the entire process and allowed Mr. Laros to free him. As soon as he was done, the dolphin swam off.
