Weightlifter Yelisseyeva wins gold at Asian Games 29 сентября 2014, 00:11

Kazakhstani weightlifter Margarita Yelisseyeva has won gold at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon.

Kazakhstani weightlifter Margarita Yelisseyeva has won gold at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

Yelisseyeva who competed in the Women’s -48 kg weight category on September 20, showed her best result with 88 kilos in the snatch. Yelisseyeva’s main opponent Yuan Tian attempted 102 kg in the clean and jerk, but failed. The Kazakhstani weightlifter lifted 101 kg and then 106 kg. Yelisseyeva even attempted to lift 108 kg, but failed. 

Yelisseyeva lifted 194kg in total. Sri Wahyuni Agustiani from India took silver and Mahliyo Togoeva from Uzbekistan won bronze with a total of 187kg each.

The 17th Asian Games started on September 19 in Incheon, South Korea. The Games are to conclude on October 4.
