Two crews of Kazakhstan team Astana left the Silk Way rally in offroaders category. Jeeps of Andrei Cherednikov and Dmitry Filonets were withdrawn because of technical problems, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the navigator Denis Berezovsky. “The situation is that both jeeps of Kazakhstan team had to withdraw almost at the same time. Jeeps of Cherednikov and Kuznetsov had problems with electronic equipment. Perhaps, the complicated first stage caused the breakdown. They could not fix their car at the site. The clutch on our Nissan Pathfiner got burnt and we had to finish the race in a tow car,” Berezovsky said. Arthur Arvichus' truck will be the only one representing Kazakhstan in the Silk Way. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that Astana is ranked 16th in the general classification. It is 2 minutes 55 seconds behind the leader, Russian race Firdaus Kabirov. The crews of Cherednikov and Filonets are preparing for the next tournaments. "Anything can happen. We need to move on. Meanwhile, we are going home. Our nearest plans include Kazakhstan Trophy Raid Championship which is scheduled for August 20. Then there will be several stages of a classic rally. We will go to Egypt in the fall and, of course, we will be preparing for Dakar. There will probably be several other races in the meantime,” the Astana navigator said. The Silk Way rally started on July 9 at the Red Square in Moscow. The route is laid through the territory of Russia via Lipetsk, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Stavropol and Maikop. The rally will finish in Sochi on July 16.
