Kazakhstan sport officials have revised contracts with 52 athletes and 48 coaches prior to the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

The meeting of Operation Headquarters on preparation for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games was held in Astana, Vesti.kz reports. Heads of regional sport departments and federations along with chief and state coaches took part in the meeting chaired by of Talgat Yermegiyayev, head of Kazakhstan Sport and Physical Education Agency. According to Ilsiyar Kanagatov, deputy director of the Agency, the officials revised contracts with athletes who will take part in the Olympics. The amount of contracts exceeded 15 million tenge ($100 000). As the result, the officials resigned contracts with 52 athletes and 48 coaches (including 15 foreign athletes in 9 sport events). “Our goal is to show our best results in the Sochi Olympic Games. After Kazakhstan’s triumphant performance in the 2011 Asian Games and London Olympic Games we are planning to perform just as well as in the Vancouver Games, where we won one silver medal,” Ilsiyar Kanagatov said.
