Tengrinews.kz - Members of the Kyrgyz Parliament have called for the unblocking of TikTok in the country, according to 24.kg.

During a session of the Jogorku Kenesh, MP Marlen Mamataliev noted that despite the official ban, citizens continue to use the app freely via VPN.

"De jure, we have banned the service, but de facto, it is still operating. The head of TikTok's Central Asian office is now a Kyrgyz national. He is ready to open an office in Kyrgyzstan, cooperate with authorities, respond to all signals, immediately block problematic content, and track the location of destructive forces. We claim to have banned the service, but in reality, everyone is still using it, especially the youth," he said.

His colleague Dastan Bekeshev supported the idea, emphasizing that TikTok could help develop tourism and culture and serve as an effective advertising platform for entrepreneurs.

TikTok was blocked in Kyrgyzstan in April 2024. At the time, the Ministry of Digital Development stated that the reason for the ban was the platform's failure to comply with the country's law "On measures to prevent harm to the health of children, their physical, intellectual, mental, spiritual and moral development."

Recently, it was reported that Albanian authorities would block TikTok in the country.
