Tengrinews.kz - Despite a higher inflation rate compared to other EAEU countries, food prices in Kazakhstan remain among the most affordable, according to data from the Eurasian Economic Commission.
In May 2025, inflation in Kazakhstan stood at 11.3 percent, exceeding that of other member states: Russia (9.9 percent), Kyrgyzstan (8 percent), Belarus (7.1 percent), and Armenia (4.3 percent). Overall, inflation across the EAEU reached 9.7 percent.
Regarding food prices, the highest increase was recorded in Russia (12.5 percent), followed by Kyrgyzstan (9.9 percent), Kazakhstan and Belarus (9.6 percent each), and Armenia (7.2 percent).
Nevertheless, Kazakhstan still looks favorable compared to its neighbors in terms of actual product prices. For example, one kilogram of beef costs about $5.90 in Kazakhstan, cheaper only in Belarus at $4.23. In Armenia, the same amount costs nearly $9.40, in Russia $7.63, and in Kyrgyzstan $7.55.
Chicken is also cheapest in Kazakhstan and Belarus at $2.09 per kilogram. In Russia, it sells for $2.59, while in Armenia the price is $4.09, and in Kyrgyzstan $4.15.
