The upcoming Victory Day parade celebrating the 70th anniversary will be open to guests with invitation cards, Tengrinews reports citing the Astana Akimat (Municipal authorities).
“For the public and traffic security, the entrance to the parade will be limited. Our experience shows that a lot of people come to see the parade and it results in crowd congestion. Then we have to call for ambulance because people get sick. Hence, the parade will be broadcasted live via all national TV channels. LED screens will be installed in five spots in the city. The places are: the new Schoolchildren Palace, the Student Park, Kazakhstan Sports Complex, Koshkarbayev street near Highville residential complex, near the city Akimat and in front of the Baiterek monument. That is why, to avoid dangerous crowding we advise to observe the parade either on TV or at the designated areas,” Bakhytzhan Malybayev of the Department of the Interior Affairs (DIA) said at a press conference.
Bakhyt Yessimov, the Head of the Domestic Policy Administration noted that unfortunately not everyone would be able to attend the grand parade on May 7th.
“We advise our citizens to plan their holidays in advance and to avoid meaningless line ups at the Kazakh Yeli square. The parade will be open for a limited number of people. The celebratory parade is organized for the war veterans. They were invited to attend the parade with companions. The Ministry of Defence was responsible for distribution of the invitations. The Akimat wants to ensure safety of our citizens and warns them that no one will be able to attend the parade without an invitation. That is why we are installing the LED screens across the city, ” Yessimov said.
According to the Culture Department, there will be over 50 events taking place on May 7, 8 and 9 in Astana. The highlight of the Victory Day celebration is the Military Parade organized by the Ministry of Defence. A number of concerts will take place in Astana and throughout the country to celebrate the Defender of the Motherland Day and the Victroy Day.
The traffic in the city center will be limited due the celebratory parade and other events.
