Yummy baursaks
There are no celebrations in Kazakhstan that go without baursaks (fried dough). Kostanay city has fried over one ton of Nauryz baursaks and treated the city folks with the yummy snacks, Tengrinews reports citing Interfax-Kazakhstan. The preparations started on Friday, March 20. The tasty treats were being fried on the main square of the city starting from 9 a.m. “We cooked a ton or maybe even more by 1 p.m. We were treating everyone who came over to celebrate with baursaks,” the Akimat (municipal authorities) of Kostanay city said. Another meal that is key to the celebration of the spring holiday is Naurzy Kozhe. It was cooked outdoors in a huge kazan (large cooking pot) in accordance with the Kazakh tradition.
