Military parade will take place in Astana on May 7th as part of the Defender of Motherland Day celebration, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Ministry of Defense.

The parade will be held at the Kazakh Eli square in Astana and involve forces of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Border Guard from the National Security Committee and the National Guard.

Around 2 thousand militarymen will participate in the ceremonial parade along with 250 military vehicles and 56 different aircrafts.

Kazakhstan Air Forces pilots will showcase new aerial combat elements at the parade. All the flying vehicles from Taldykorgan and Shymkent air force bases have already been deployed to the Karaganda airfield for joint practices.

“Relocation (of the flying vehicles) was part of our preparations for the upcoming military parade on the Defender of the Motherland Day on May 7th. Kazakhstani pilots will demonstrate combat capabilities and new elements of aerial combat and aerial acrobatics,” the Ministry of Defense said.

The Defender of the Motherland Day commemorates the day when President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree creating the national defense forces of Kazakhstan. Later, on October 4th 2012, the Parliament decided to make this date a national holiday.
