Kazakhstan citizens will have three days off on the Capital Day, Tengrinews.kz reports. Kazakhstan will celebrate Astana's 14th birthday on July 6, 2012. In this relation July 6, 7 and 8 have been declared days off.
According to the law, the Capital Day (July 6) is a state holiday in Kazakhstan and is considered a day off. Since July 6 is falls on Friday, Kazakhstan citizens will have 3 days off in a row this year.
Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that Astana administration is preparing a unique holiday program for the 14th anniversary of Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Celebration of the birthday of Kazakhstan’s main city will traditionally start with the 3rd Astana International Festival of Action Films organized by famous Russian filmmaker (of Kazakh origin) Timur Bekmambetov.
Phenomenal Cirque du Soleil that has turned around the traditions of the classical circus and breathed a new life into them will be the most awaited event of July. "This is a purely social project. The invitations to the performance will be sent to orphans, children from lower-income and multi-child families, disabled children, war and labor veterans. outstanding students and winners of national and international olympiades. I think this will be one of the good opportunities to support this category of our citizens," Astana Akim (Mayor) stated in his blog, answering a question of the citizens.
On July 5 the citizens will get a chance to enjoy the performance of the most contemporary of all the classic singers, world-famous Korean singer Sumi Jo.
"Speaking of the prices, I will compare the tickets costs in Kazakhstan with those at other stages of the world. The cost of the tickets to the show of the famous opera singer Sumi Jo in Astana is much lower than in the countries she usually gave concerts in. The tickets to her show in Astana will cost from 3 to 20 thousand tenge ($20-$136), while in Tokyo the cost of a ticket to her concert would range from 13 to 28 thousand tenge ($88-$190). This is net of transportation and accommodation costs," Imangali Tasmagambetov wrote in his blog.
The celebrations will include 59 events in 4 days. 15 of them will require buying tickets. For example, Ilya Averbukh’s ice show Stars on Ice will be held on July 7. It will include performances of Russian stars like ice-skater Tatyana Navka and a composer Igor Krutoy.
