The 5th French Film Today festival will take place in Almaty on April 17, Tengrinews reports.

The Almaty cinephiles will enjoy early screenings of French movies in Russian that will premier right after the festival in cinemas across the country. Five films will be presented during the festival: Casse-tête chinois with Romain Duris and Audrey Tautou, director Laurent Tuel‘s La grande boucle, L'amour est un crime parfait based on Philippe Djian’s novel, Hôtel Normandy directed by Charles Nemes and Alexandre Coffre’s Eyjafjallajökull.

"It is the fifth time French Film Today takes place in Kazakhstan. It is a small but significant anniversary. Thanks to this festival French films have solidly entered Kazakhstani movie theatres. Thanks to the festival many film lovers enjoy recent developments of French cinematography. And definitely, thanks to the festival we meet French cinematographers and share experience and information, teach them about our culture and become more open to the world," Director of Almaty-based Arman movie theatre Baurzhan Shukenov said.

The organizers of the French Film Today festival invite all the movie lovers and everyone cruirous about French cinematography to join them on April 17-20 for a cinematic adventure at Arman theater (crossing of Abay and Dostyk streets). The ticket cost is 500 tenge.

Casse-tête chinois - April 18, 7:30 p.m.

L'amour est un crime parfait - April 19, 4:30 p.m.

La grande boucle - April 19, 7:30 p.m.

Eyjafjallajökull - April 20, 7:30 p.m.
