Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund (NWF) will launch scholarships for young researchers in Kazakhstan. This was announced on November 1 by the NWF Chairman Timur Kulibayev at the meeting on innovation and development of the Fund’s group of companies,Tengrinews.kz reports. “Samruk-Kazyna is ready to make its contribution. I would like to suggest that Samruk-Kazyna offer scholarships to twenty young and ambitious researchers from Kazakhstan. They will work on the problems that are on our agenda. I encourage our national companies to headhunt in their areas and attract young people. They will become a bridge between research and our industries,” Timur Kulibayev said about the plans to stimulate the research development. According to the Fund's Chairman, Samruk-Kazyna is able to provide a tremendous stimulus to development of research and science in Kazakhstan and is called to establish a link between the industry and the research. He noted that a highly important issue of implementing the research into commercial practice must be addressed in the Fund’s program. “It is important to correctly set the system of research stimulation and development innovations in the companies”, he said. Innovation budget, in his opinion, should be increased, and the set trend has to be maintained. “We need to involve local research in addressing the problems with technology that national companies experience”, Kulibayev explained.
