Tengrinews.kz - Cancer drug trials are ongoing in Kazakhstan. According to biologist and professor Dos Sarbassov, during the first stage of the trials, patients' conditions stabilized, and one patient's tumor decreased.

Sarbassov reported that during the first stage of the trials, the drug was injected in small doses to 15 patients. Researchers are now seeking the optimal dose to enhance effectiveness.

"At first, we used a dose of 0.15 grams. In November, we increased the dose to 0.3 grams. This helped stabilize the tumor in all patients, and in one case, it decreased by 30%. Now, we are working to find the highest safe dose," the scientist said.

The drug acts as a chemotherapy, causing mutated cancer cells (KRAS-mutant cells) to self-destruct. This is achieved through a combination of high doses of the D-form of vitamin C and a small concentration of arsenic.

"We hope to create an effective drug that is available to everyone. Right now, we need to determine which type of cancer will respond best to it," said Sarbassov.

It is reported that in Almaty, a limited batch of vitamin C (DV-C) has been produced, and arsenic oxide was purchased from India. The drug has already been patented. It is administered intravenously: 18 injections, one 6 times a week, with a two-hour interval between the vitamin and arsenic. After three weeks of treatment, there is a one-week break, followed by a repeat course.

In response to the question of when the Kazakhstan cancer drug will be fully ready, Sarbassov stated that it will not be earlier than "in 2-3 years," as it needs to be perfected.
